NOTE: Saul died for his transgression for asking counsel of the familiar spirit of Samuel who was dead. Therefore, 'familiar spirit' is the spirit of the dead. The dictionary defines 'familiar spirit' as 'the spirit of a dead person invoked by a medium to advise or prophesy.'

4. What does God say about communicating with 'familiar spirits' [the spirit of the dead]?

There shall not be found among you any one that makes his son or his daughter to pass through the fire, or that uses divination, or an observer of times, or an enchanter, or a witch. Regard not them that have __________ spirits, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God. (19:31)

In STATE OF DEAD, we learn that dead people know not anything (Ecclesiastes 9:5), have no wisdom and knowledge (Ecclesiastes 9:10), can do no work (Ecclesiastes 9:10), have no part in anything done on the earth (Ecclesiastes 9:5,6), cannot return to their houses (Job 7:9,10), cannot praise God (Psalms 115:17), their love and hatred are perished (Ecclesiastes 9:5,6). In short, they know nothing and can do nothing.

What then this 'familiar spirit' that is supposedly the spirit of the dead?
