SIN ORIGIN
1. What is sin?
Read: 1 John 3:4

Whoever commits sin transgresses also the law: for sin is the __________ of the law.

2. Who sinned first?
Read: 1 John 3:8

He that commits sin is of the __________; for the __________ sins from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

NOTE: The devil was the first sinner.

3. What sins did the devil commit?
Read: John 8:44

You are of your father the devil, and the __________ of your father you will do. He was a __________ from the beginning, and stayed not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaks a __________, he speaks of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.

NOTE: The devil lusted, which was synonymous with 'coveted' (Romans 7:7 'for I had not known lust, except the law had said, You shall not covet'). He 'was a murderer.' He is 'the father of lie.'

4. 'Sin is the transgressions of the law' 1 John 3:4. Which law did the devil transgress?
Read: Exodus 20:2-17

13 You shalt not __________.
16 You shalt not bear __________ against your neighbour.
17 You shalt not __________ your neighbour's house, thou shalt not __________ your neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is your neighbour's.

NOTE: The devil transgressed the Ten Commandments. The Ten Commandments existed before the world was created.

5. What was the first sin on the earth?
Read: Genesis 2:16,17; Genesis 3:6

And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat: But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, you shall __________ eat of it: for in the day that you eat thereof you shall surely die. (2:16,17)

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did __________, and gave also to her husband with her; and he did __________. (3:6)

NOTE: God commanded the man. He gave them a law. The law was not to eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The man sinned by eating of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. The man sinned by transgressing the law.

6. How did the man get the idea to sin?
Read: Genesis 3:1-5

1 Now the __________ was more subtle than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made.
NOTE: The serpent gave the idea to transgress the law.

7. What was the first lie?
Read: Genesis 2:16,17; Genesis 3:4,5

NOTE: God said that if they ate, they 'shall surely die.' The serpent said that if they ate, they 'shall not surely die.' The serpent lied. He also said that God was a liar.
