END-TIME BABYLON

1. What announcement is made by the second angel of Revelation 14?
Read: Revelation 14:8
 
And there followed another angel, saying, __________ is fallen, is fallen, that great city.
2. This end-time Babylon cannot be the literal kingdom of Babylon. Why?
Read: Jeremiah 50:1,26,39; Jeremiah 51:1,26
 
and it [Babylon] shall be no more inhabited __________ ; neither shall it [Babylon] be dwelt in __________ (50:39)
 
3. To whom is the term Babylon applied in Revelation 17?
Read: Revelation 17:1,3-5
 
Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great __________ that sitteth upon many waters: (17:1)
I saw a __________ sit upon a scarlet coloured beast, full of names of blasphemy, having seven heads and ten horns. (17:3)
 
And the __________ was arrayed in purple and scarlet colour, and decked with gold and precious stones and pearls, having a golden cup in her hand full of abominations and filthiness of her fornication: (17:4)
 
And upon her forehead was a name written, MYSTERY, __________ THE GREAT, THE MOTHER OF HARLOTS AND ABOMINATIONS OF THE EARTH. (17:5)
NOTE: The term Babylon is applied to a great whore, a woman, the mother of harlots.
4. What symbols are used to represent Israel, the people of God?

For thy Maker is thine __________; the LORD of hosts is his name; and thy Redeemer the Holy One of Israel; The God of the whole earth shall he be called. For the LORD hath called thee as a __________ forsaken and grieved in spirit, and a __________ of youth, when thou wast refused, saith thy God. (54:5,6)

5. What symbols are used to represent the church, the followers of Jesus Christ?
Read: Ephesians 5:25,31,32; 2 Corinthians 11:2
 
For I am jealous over you [Corinthian church] with godly jealousy: for I have espoused you [Corinthian church] to one husband, that I may present you [Corinthian church] as a chaste __________ to Christ. (11:2)

NOTE: The relationships between God and His people, Israel, as well as Jesus Christ and His followers, the church, are portrayed by a marriage contract. Hence, Israel and the church are symbolized as a woman, the wife of God, the wife of Jesus Christ, a virgin.
6. What does a whoredom symbolize?
Read: Ezekiel 16:17Ezekiel 23:1-4,​5,7,8,17; James 4:4; Hosea 1:2
 
Thou hast also taken thy fair jewels of my gold and of my silver, which I had given thee, and madest to thyself __________ of men, and didst commit __________ with them, (16:17)
NOTE: Spiritual whoredom or fornication refers to: 
there were two women, the daughters of one mother: And they committed __________ in Egypt; they committed __________ in their youth: And the names of them were Aholah the elder, and Aholibah her sister: and they were mine, and they bare sons and daughters. Thus were their names; __________ is Aholah, and __________ Aholibah. (23:2-4)
 
And Aholah [Samaria] played the __________ when she was mine; and she doted on her lovers, on the __________ her neighbours, (23:5)
Neither left she [Aholah/Samaria] her __________ brought from __________ (23:8)

NOTE: Spiritual whoredom or fornication refers to: 
Ye __________ and __________ , know ye not that the __________ of the __________ is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. (4:4)
NOTE: Spiritual whoredom or fornication refers to: 
  • Becoming friendly with sinful world (James 4:4)
There are 3 ways by which the people of God can be guilty of spiritual whoredom or fornication: 
1. By worshiping man-made images or idols (Ezekiel 16:17)
2. By uniting with pagan nations (Ezekiel 23:1-4,​5,7,8,17)
3. By becoming friendly with sinful world (James 4:4)
Therefore, Babylon refers to a church that worships man-made images or idols, unites with pagan nations, and becomes friendly with sinful world.

 
7. What other characteristics of the woman are described in Revelation 17?
Read: Revelation 17:1,6,9,18

Come hither; I will shew unto thee the judgment of the great whore that sitteth upon many __________

NOTE: The woman sits on many waters.
And I saw the woman __________ with the __________ of the __________, and with the __________ of the __________ of Jesus: (17:6)
NOTE: The woman is drunken with the blood of the saints and of the martyrs of Jesus. The apostate church persecuted God's people.
And here is the mind which hath wisdom. The seven heads are seven __________, on which the woman __________(17:9)
 
NOTE: The woman sits on seven mountains. The headquarter of the apostate church is on seven mountains.
And the woman which thou sawest is that great __________(17:18)
NOTE: The woman is a great city. The apostate church is also a great city [a city with great power].
8. What do waters symbolize?
Read: Revelation 17:15

The waters which thou sawest, where the whore sitteth, are __________, and __________, and __________, and __________. : 
(17:15)
NOTE: The water symbolizes peoples, multitudes, nations, and languages. Therefore, the apostate church also controls a large number of peoples from different nations and languages.​
What apostate church fits these characteristics:
1) Worshiping man-made images or idols,
2) Uniting with pagan nations,
3) Becoming friendly with sinful world,
4) Controlling a large number of peoples from different nations and languages,
5) Drunken with the blood of the saints and of the martyrs of Jesus,
6) Sitting on seven mountains, 
7) A great city? 
There is only once church that fits all of these characteristics: The Roman Catholic Church.
