FOURTH BEAST
1. What was the fourth beast like?
Read: Daniel 7:7
After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, __________ and __________ , and __________ exceedingly.
NOTE: Unlike the previous beasts, the fourth beast is unlike any animal.
The fourth beast represents Rome, which is represented by the legs of iron in Daniel 2.

2. What did the beast have?

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great __________ teeth.

NOTE: Rome is represented by the legs of iron in Daniel 2 and a beast that has great iron teeth in Daniel 7.

3. What else did the beast have?

After this I saw in the night visions, and behold a fourth beast, dreadful and terrible, and strong exceedingly; and it had great iron teeth: it devoured and brake in pieces, and stamped the residue with the feet of it: and it was diverse from all the beasts that were before it; and it had ten __________ .

4. What do the 'ten horns' symbolize?
Read: Daniel 7:24

And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten __________ that shall arise.
NOTE: The ten horns represent ten kings, or kingdoms, that shall arise out of Rome. Unlike the previous kingdoms, Rome was not conquered by another kingdom. Due to internal struggle, Rome was conquered and divided among ten barbarian tribes: 1) Burgundians, 2) Visigoths, 3) Franks, 4) Lombards, 5) Suevi, 6) Alemanni, 7) Anglo-Saxons, 8) Heruli, 9) Vandals, 10) Ostrogoths. Seven of them became Western European countries: 1) Burgundians become Switzerland, 2) Visigoths become Spain, 3) Franks become France, 4) Lombards become Italy, 5) Suevi become Portugal, 6) Alemanni become Germany, 7) Anglo-Saxons become Britain. The other three: Heruli, Vandals, Ostrogoths were destroyed.

5. What came up among the ten horns?
Read: Daniel 7:8

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another __________,
NOTE: As the ten horns represent ten kings or kingdoms (Daniel 7:24), 'another little horn' represents another kingdom that was little. This little kingdom came up among the ten kingdoms, which were in the territory of Rome.

6. What happened to three of the first ten horns when the little horn came up?
Read: Daniel 7:8

I considered the horns, and, behold, there came up among them another little horn, before whom there were three of the first horns __________ up by the __________:

NOTE: Three of the first ten horns were plucked up by the root, or uprooted, before the little horn.

7. What is the meaning of 'being plucked up by the root'?
Read: 2 Chronicles 7:19-21; Psalm 52:2-5; Jeremiah 12:17

But if they will not obey, I will utterly __________ up and __________ that nation, saith the Lord. (12:17)
​
NOTE: 'Being plucked up by the root' means 'being completely destroyed.' Three of the ten barbarian tribes, namely Heruli, Vandals, Ostrogoths, were completely destroyed before the kingdom represented by the little horn.
